Mrs. Master has entered you in the French World Travel Agency Competition.  Travel agencies are sponsoring this competition.  They are looking for new, innovative travel packages to France.  The top three itineraries will be offered as travel packages to student groups.  Are you ready to meet the challenge?

You have accepted the challenge to create an itinerary for a trip to France.  The itinerary will include Paris and a region of France.  The travel dates are June 16 - June 23, 2008.  (8 days)

During your quest to develop an exciting vacation package, you will:

• select flights to and from your destination;
• select rail schedules to and from your destination;
• list the necessary travel documents;
• include one meal for each day typical of the region;
• find the current exchange rate;
• create an itinerary for 8 days;
• create a map of France on which you will locate Paris, and the region included in your visit;
• create a travel brochure and;
• journal each day you are away.

Your journal will include:

• places you visited each day which will include Paris (4 days) and at least two cities in your assigned region (3 days);
• new foods you have tried;
• special events you participated in;
• festivals you may have experienced;
• a description of a souvenir representative of the country or region you visited and;
• the most memorable highlight of your trip.

• First, you will be assigned a partner .
• Then, your "team"  will be given the name of the region of France you will be researching.
• Next, you and your partner will divide the work.  You will decide who researches Paris and who researches the region of France.  You will work as a team to decide where to go on each day, and to select travel details (airplane, train, and ferry, if necessary.)
• Using the online resources and traditional print resources found in the school library, you will locate information for Paris and your assigned region of France.
• All your notes should be placed in the packet provided to you on the first day of the project.
• Also, fill out a bibliography worksheet or a bibliography card for each source you use to find information about your country!  The bibliography sheets or bibliography cards will be used to create your bibliography page.
• After gathering your information, you will produce: a labeled map, a travel brochure of your region in France (to be completed in school), an eight day itinerary, an eight day travel journal, and a bibliography. (sample bibliography) (MLA format)
