Clearview’s Season Ends With Playoff Loss
On Tuesday afternoon the Clearview Volleyball team gave its all in a 2-0 loss to divisional rival Moorestown during the first round of the NJSIAA Boys Volleyball Tournament. The loss ended the Pioneers season giving them a 16-7 record on the year. The turning point in the match came in the first game when the Pioneers who were leading 23-19 at the time, allowed the Quakers to go on a five point streak. The Quakers won the game 26-24. Unfortunately, the Quakers took the momentum from game one and used it to keep the lead throughout game two. Moorestown continued to get stronger as the game wore on and capitalized on every mistake the Pioneers made. Despite the loss the Pioneers ended the season with a divisional championship and a tie for most wins in the school’s history.

Clearview Ties Record 16th Win
The Clearview Volleyball team beat Camden Academy to win their record tying 16 match of the season. The team played well and won going away in each game. Camden Academy provided the Pioneers with some tough play, but the effort from each player helped to propel the team to the victory.
The JV team also won on Monday closing their season with 19 wins and 1 loss. The JV squad closed the year with the most successful team in the program’s history. The team as well as Coach Terry should be commended for their hard work and tough play the entire season. The players for the JV are Matt Campbell, Jake Dear, Kyle Forline, Chris Grexa, Nolan Lea, Evan Liss, Kenny Myers, Dylan Oldt, Anthony Riccio, Jake Williams, Matt Miller and Brandon Deangelo. GREAT JOB JV!!!!
Pioneers Face Rival in Playoffs Tuesday
The Pioneers will play Moorestown Tuesday in an NJSIAA Opening Round Playoff Game. The Game will be played at 4:00 @ Clearview High School (Old Gym). The Pioneers are ranked as the #15 seed in the South Central Region while the Quakers are ranked #18. The teams each won a game against the other during the season and shared the Patriot Division Championship.
Pioneers Take Another From Kingsway
The Pioneers went to 15-6 on the season beating the Dragons 2-0 on Thursday afternoon. Each match was close at the onset, but Clearview was able to pull away in each game ending any chance Kingsway had of an upset.
The JV squad came back from a tough loss and won their 18th game of the year. Both teams will be in action on Monday afternoon @ Camden Academy. Game time is 4:00.
Pioneers loss means only share of title
After beating the Quakers earlier this season, the Pioneers dropped a two game affair at Moorestown Tuesday afternoon. The Quakers were ready to play setting and hitting the ball well throughout the match. While the Pioneers played well and matched the Quakers for most of the match, they were not able to overcome a 10-1 run during the middle of Game 1 and were not able to catch and overtake the Quakers in Game 2.
The loss means the Pioneers and Quakers will each own a share of the Patriot Division Championship. The JV squad also lost its first match of the season, also a 2-0 affair. The JV team is now 17-1. Both teams will play on Thursday against neighboring Kingsway at 4:00 @ Clearview High School.
Cougars claw past Pioneers
The Cougars of Cherry Hill East clawed their way to victory on Monday afternoon winning a match against the Pioneers 2-1. The affair was a spirited one which saw both teams change leads over the course of three games several times. While the Pioneers played well, the Cougars made every mistake count.
The JV squad also extended their record to 17-0. The match was a 2-0 win for the View. Both teams are looking forward to playing Moorestown on Tuesday. A win for the Pioneers would clinch the Patriot Division title outright. A loss would mean that both teams share the championship. The game will be at 5:00 @ Moorestown High School.
Pioneers Clinch Share of Crown
The 2008 Clearview Boys Volleyball Team has accomplished what no other in school history had before it. With a 2-0 win over Camden County Tech on Friday afternoon the Pioneers claimed at least a share of the Patriot Division Championship, the first of any kind for the program.
The players certainly knew what was on the line and played a fantastic match never allowing the Warriors any type of momentum. The scores were 25-9, 25-7. Great matches were turned in by Senior Captain Andrew Moore and Senior Joe Jacovelli.
On another note the JV squad won again and is still undefeated with an astounding record of 16-0. The team to this point has only dropped 3 games the entire season. Junior Kyle Forline as well as Junior Anthony Riccio led the way in kills, while Sophomore s Chris Grexa and Dylan Oldt helped to set them up all afternoon. The match was, as always, a good all around effort from everyone on the team.
Having closed the week with an astounding 5-0 record, a phenomenal win over National Division Champion Cinnaminson and clinching a share of their own division, the Pioneers will look to carry their momentum into two very important matchups next week. The Pioneers will continue their play on Monday @ Cherry Hill East, a team that barely defeated them last year. Monday is also the state cut-off for playoffs and a win against a strong opponent like East could only help the team moving forward as the Playoffs near.
On Tuesday the Pioneers will get a chance to play Moorestown once again. This match will determine if the Pioneers get sole possession of the divisional championship or if they share it. This match, as was the first, will see some of the best volleyball the area has to offer. PATRIOT CO-CHAMPS!!!
Close Game For Pioneers
The Pioneers found themselves down two men early in a very important Patriot Division match. Only two days removed from playing their first match, a Clearview Victory, the Hermits were looking to avenge that loss in their own gymnasium. Fortunately for Clearview their depth again allowed them to overcome several changes to the starting lineup and play a strong match.
The first match started in favor of the Pioneers and they led most of the way closing out Game 1 by a score of 25-16. The second game looked like it would mirror the first, but the Hermits stayed close throughout the match even when down by a half dozen points. The second game ended with the Pioneers going on a 3-0 run and winning 25-21. As a result of the win the Pioneers are now 8-0 in the division and 13-4 on the season.
The JV team also completed a sweep of the Hermits winning both of their games in close fashion as well. The Hermits JV squad gave the Pioneers all they could handle. Both JV teams should be commended for their strong, athletic and entertaining play.
With their second victory over St. Augustine, Clearview is now in a position to clinch at least a share of the divisional crown with a victory at home tomorrow over the Warriors of Camden County Tech. Should the Pioneers achieve a victory it would be the first Patriot Division Championship in the program’s history. ONE TO GO VIEW!!!
The View Topples the Tigers
The Pioneers defeated the Tigers on Wednesday by scores of 25-11, 25-12 to close out the match 2-0. This win gives the team a 7-0 record in the division and a 12-4 record on the season. The JV team did not compete in action on Wednesday.
Both squads will be in action on Thursday as they face off against St. Augustine Prep for a second time in two days. The game is another divisional matchup and important for the Pioneers if they wish to compete for the divisional championship. The game will take place at St. Augustine Prep. TWO TO GO VIEW!!!
The Prep Falls to the Pioneers
With five games remaining on their divisional schedule the Pioneers need at least four more wins to clinch a share of the championship. The Boys volleyball team drew one step closer with a victory over the St. Augustine Hermits. The match scores were 25-12, 25-18. The second game was a close affair with the Pioneers leading the Hermits 20-18 before closing out the match on a 5-0 run.
The JV squad also continued its undefeated streak with a 2-0 win over the Hermits as well. This draws the JV to a 14-0 record. The Varsity squad will be in action again Wednesday when they face the Tigers at Woodrow Wilson High School. THREE TO GO VIEW!!!
Pioneers Take Down Pirates
The Clearview Boys Volleyball team accomplished what no other South Jersey team had done this season beating Cinnaminson 2-1 in a match on Monday afternoon. The Pioneers dropped the first game 25-17 to the Pirates, but roared back with wins in Games 2 and 3 with scores of 25-19, 25-21. The win also clinched a playoff berth for the Pioneers who are now 10-4 on the year.
Captain Andrew Moore had 22 assists and 4 kills on the day. Senior Joe Jacovelli had 16 Kills and 6 Blocks, while Josh Brunermer added another 8 blocks. Senior Justin Sweetin added 7 kills in his return match.
The Pioneers focused on blocking Cinnaminson’s big hitters and were largely successful throughout the day. The squad played a very smart match, passing well and making plays when it needed too. Game 3 began with the Pioneers taking an incredible ten point advantage early on only to see the Pirates close the gap to 20-18. However, the team gave its all to get the next few points and eventually closed out the match with the win.
The JV squad also continued their undefeated record by beating the Pirates JV squad 2-0. The JV team is now 13-0 on the season. The team had good all around efforts from Anthony Riccio, Dylan Oldt and Chris Grexa.
The Pioneers continue their play today with a match against St. Augustine @ 4:00 at Clearview High School (Old Gym). GREAT WIN VIEW!!!
View Drops Match To West
Less than 24 hours from winning their biggest match, the Clearview Pioneers were playing another tough opponent. The Lions of Cherry Hill West played a hard fought match beating the hometown Pioneers by scores of 22-25, 25-22, 25-15. Both teams played extremely well considering they were both coming off 3 game matches from the day before.
Leading the way for the Pioneers was Senior Joe Jacovelli who followed up his performance on Wednesday with another double digit match. Not far behind was Sophomore Josh Brunermer who had 8 kills and a solid 4 blocks as well as Junior Eric Groch who had 13 digs.
While the Pioneers did not come out on top of this one, they can be proud of the effort while playing down two key starters. On the other side Cherry Hill West who had lost a string of close competitive games themselves finally came out on the winning side of things. Their team played stronger as the match progressed culminating with their victory.
The JV squad continued their undefeated streak as well. The JV team also found themselves down a couple men, but played strong throughout closing out the match in impressive fashion 2-0.
Entering the coming week the Pioneers will see a lot of action beginning with Cinnaminson on Monday. Cinnaminson enters the week with only one loss on their record. The View will then play four straight divisional matches including a home and home with St. Augustine Prep on Tuesday and Thursday. ONE AT A TIME VIEW!!!

Tight Match Doesn’t Go Pioneers Way
On a very long night at Williamstown High School the Clearview Boys volleyball team played a tremendous match that didn’t quite go their way at the end. While the Braves handled the Pioneers in the first game 25-14, the next two games gave the crowd a show. Despite the score of the first game, the Pioneers gutted out a 25-19 win in game two forcing a match deciding game three on the Braves home court. The third game featured tremendous blocking, great hitting and some spectacular all around plays that kept both teams from building any sort of comfortable lead. As the game was coming to a close with the Braves only needing 1 point to close out the match the Pioneers battled for the next three points taking a 25-24 lead. On the next play the Pioneers hit the ball out of bounds giving the Braves the tie. The Match continued with the Clearview taking a one point advantage yet again at 26-25. Unfortunately, a service error was committed and the Braves tied the game again. Williamstown to their credit played a wonderful match taking the next two-points and the match.
The Pioneers play was a result of an all-around effort on the court. Sophomore Josh Brunermer and Senior Joe Jacovelli were very successful blocking the ball all afternoon. Service from Junior Paul Grexa and Senior Justin Sweetin gave the team much needed energy. Junior Libero Erik Groch had a many key digs allowing the Pioneers to stay in the match. Sophomore Chris Grexa set the ball like a veteran while Seniors Matt Colna, Dan Oldt and Jeff Cooke provided strong leadership as the day wore on. EXCELLENT JOB VIEW!!!
The Pioneers will continue their season on Saturday @ Collingswood High School in tournament play.

The Pioneers will continue their season at home Tuesday against Camden. GREAT JOB VIEW!!!
Clearview performs well against tough competition
The Varsity squad knew it was in for a tough day of matches as the day began Saturday at the Moorestown Tip-Off Tournament. The full day of matches was concluded with a 9-5 record overall. The Pioneers were competitive in each match and worked hard throughout the day to be at their best. The Varsity players who participated on Saturday were: Senior Captain Andrew Moore, Joe Jacovelli, Matt Colna, Jeff Cooke, Dan Oldt, Justin Sweetin, Juniors Eric Groch and Paul Grexa, Sophomores Billy Tompkins, Josh Brunermer, and JP Kotyla.
