Genocide Lesson Plan Assignment

General Information

Task: You will work with your group to research your assigned Genocide and then develop a lesson about the Genocide to teach to the class.
Requirements:
  1. You will be graded for each research day provided during class time. It will be important for you to stay on task in order to assure you earn an "A" each of these days. These grades will all be individual, so other members of your group will not affect your grade negatively.
  2. Your group should try to be creative in developing a lesson. You should NOT just stand in front of the class and read information.
  3. Your lesson should be 40 minutes long. You may include discussion in your lesson, but beware that discussions don't always take as much time as you plan.
  4. Each team member is to submit a paper:
    1. one on the history of the event/s
    2. one which is an analysis of the event/s as genocide
    3. one as a study contrasting your respective genocide with the Holocaust
  5. Decide as a team which student will do which paper. Each paper must include its own bibliography.
  6. Remember to use a variety of sources and beware of what Internet sites you use.
  7. Each group will sign up for a date to teach their lesson. Lessons will begin on Monday, May 24 and run through Friday, June 4.
  8. All members must be present on the assigned date to teach the lesson.
  9. All papers are due on Wednesday, May 26, 2004. No late papers will be accepted.
