Introduction

You have been hired by Liberty Travel at the Deptford Mall to create a new travel package for high school groups going to Spain. In order to do this, you must become familiar with Espana by taking a virtual field trip to this country. Are you ready to create a new, innovative package that students will love?

The Task
You are ready to prepare a new package to promote tourism in Espana! You have many options! You will create an itinerary for a trip to Spain. The itinerary will include Madrid and a region of Spain. The travel dates are June 16 - June 23, 2006 (8 days).

In order to develop an exciting travel package, you will:

complete the research packet

locate the cities you will visit and identify them on the map

create an itinerary for 8 days - 3 days in Madrid, 4 days in your region visiting at least 2 cities in the region, 1 day travel (back to Madrid and return to the US). Be sure to include at least three (3) events, places or activities per day, one (1) authentic meal each day and find a souvenir unique to your region. NO t-shirts or mugs!

You will create one of the items listed below to use in your "sales pitch" to Liberty Travel.

a tri-fold double sided travel brochure

a PowerPoint presentation

a scrapbook

a postcard for each day of the trip excluding each travel day (flight to Spain and return flight to US)

The Process
You will work independently on this project. You will need to do some research on Espana before you can begin creating your itinerary. You will select your region of Spain from Miss Gould's jar.

What do you need to do? You will need to complete the research packet. This booklet will contain all of the information that you need in order to successfully complete this project.

First step - complete the "Planning Your Trip" worksheets in your packet. This includes:

finding out how to obtain a passport

selecting your flights (You should plan an afternoon or evening flight to maximize your time in Espana.)

finding the current rate of exchange

Second step - complete the daily itinerary worksheets in your packet. This includes:

deciding where to go and what to do each day (You should have at least three (3) things you are going to see or do each day. Explain why you want to do these things. You may have to select a way to get to your destination such as a train, bus, ferry, plane, taxi or walk.

selecting your authentic meal each day

looking for a unique souvenir

USE the resources listed below (Internet and books) to locate information for your region and your cities.
AFTER you have gathered all of your information, you will:

type your eight (8) day itinerary - save this template in your u: drive. You can type your information on the template. Be sure to save your work!

create EITHER a tri-fold double sided brochure, a PowerPoint presentation, a scrapbook OR one postcard per day (See the requirements section.)

identify on the map in your classroom, the region and cities visited

present your "sales pitch" to your class and teacher

"Sales Pitch" Requirements

Tri-fold double sided brochure should include:

a "catchy" cover

2 different graphics/pictures per section of places, events, activities to see/do (be sure to copy and paste the web address under each picture)

brief descriptions of the places, events, activities pictured

your name on the back cover in the center section

each postcard must have a return address and be addressed to Mrs. Juliano
each postcard must have a stamp
each postcard must have a graphic/picture of your favorite place, event or activity that day (be sure to include the web address under each picture/graphic)
each postcard must have a salutation, closing and an explanation of your favorite thing
