I. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

July 2004 – June 2007

District Mission Statement

WE BELIEVE the mission of the Clearview Regional High School District Board of Education, staff, parents, and the community is to educate all students in a safe, positive learning atmosphere; to achieve the highest potential of the whole child through active participation in challenging programs that meet individual needs of each student; and by doing so we will develop responsible, self-confident, self-motivated, and self-disciplined young adults inspired with a life-long love of learning.

District Technology Vision

Technology in the Clearview Regional High School District should be viewed as critical to school reform because of its capacity to support improvement in the educational process.  A telecommunications system, with a gateway for voice, video and data will be accessible by all students, staff and parents.  Interaction via electronic mail, facsimile, video conferencing and research using the world-wide-web leading to problem solving will revolutionize the way students learn.  Professional development programs must be provided to continually upgrade the technological skills of teachers, parents and community members.  The technological system and professional development must be related and supportive of the educational goals and objectives that are established by the school district.

II. TECHNOLOGY INVENTORY

July 2004 – June 2007

  1. Include a plan for replacing obsolete computers/technology; include your District’s/Charter School’s criteria for obsolescence.

In order for a computer to be connected to the district’s network, each station should have a minimum of:

Network Interface Card (NIC)

Pentium Class Central Processing Unit (CPU)

RAM should be 128 MB or better

Hard drive should be 10 GB or better

SVGA Video Card

Sound Card

15 inch or better (SVGA) Monitor

Printer, HP 2300 series or better

Equipment Repair

The technology department is responsible for the initial repair of the machine (via a technical request).  It is this technology department’s responsibility to make the decision whether the computer needs to be repaired or replaced.

Obsolescence

If the cost to repair the equipment meets or exceeds 45% of the replacement value, the equipment will be disposed of or replaced (depending on the district’s/technology department’s financial situation).

The speed of the computer is determined by the software required for a particular program.  In a software driven network, the software determines the type of equipment and its useful life.

Additionally our obsolete computers are donated to various agencies throughout the county and state.
