Call to Order:

 

The Regular meeting of the Clearview Regional Board of Education was called to order at 7:57 p.m. by the President, Dr. Gabriel DeTolla, in the High School Media Center.

 

Statement of Public Meeting in Accordance with the New Jersey Public Meetings Act:

 

It was announced that in accordance with the Open Public Meetings Act (Chapter 231, P.L. 1975), advance notice of this meeting has been provided by publishing written notice in the media and posting notice at the District Administration Building.

Student Activities

 

Mr. Wolk moved, seconded by Mr. Anderson, that the Board of Education approve the following Student Activities items:

 

GC Times Girls' Tennis Tournament:

 

Clearview to host the Gloucester County Times Girls' Tennis Tournament on Saturday, September 15, 2007 (rain dates, September 22 & 23).  Our district hosted this event last year with positive feedback.  The tennis courts will be closed to the public from early morning until early evening.

 

Discussion:

 

Mr. Jeff Chierici, Director of Special Services, was in attendance to inform the Board of the expenses for DECA.

 

DECA Expenses:

 

Mr. Wolk moved, seconded by Mrs. Atkins, that the Board of Education approve DECA expenses to be paid through IDEA funds.

 

The motion was unanimously approved.

 

Informational:

 

·       The Clearview Envirothon Team competed in Waretown on May 12th.  The team placed 10th out of 39 and defeated all of the South Jersey teams except Atlantic City.

Instruction

Mrs. Atkins moved, seconded by Mr. Anderson, that the Board of Education approve the following Instruction items:

 

Tuition Contract with Devereux:

 

A tuition contract with Devereux for a student (TC 0000825) who was placed in the facility by DYFS.  The district is responsible for the educational component of this placement.  Tuition for April through June 2007 is $8,041.00.

Mr. Miller moved, seconded by Mr. Wolk, that the Board of Education approve the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Transition Plan for the Fiscal Year 2008.

Community Relations, Policy/Legislation

 

Mr. Trifiletti moved, seconded by Mr. Riggs, that the Board of Education approve the following Community Relations, Policy/Legislation items:

 

Tuition Student:

 

Accepting a student (#2009193) as a tuition student for the 2007/2008 school year.  This student is currently in the 10th grade and will be moving out of the district to West Deptford.  (Please note that after this approval the family did not move out of the district, therefore tuition payments will not be received.)

First Reading of Policy 5131.01:

 

The first reading of the revisions to Policy #5131.01, Discipline Guidelines with changes.

 

The motion was unanimously approved.

 

Informational:

Executive Session

 

Mr. Trifiletti moved, seconded by Mr. Smith, that the Board of Education adjourn into executive session.

 

Dr. DeTolla read the following resolution:

 

It is hereby resolved that the Board of Education will now go into executive session to discuss updates on the negotiations of the pending agreement that terminates on June 30, 2007.  Discussions will also be regarding personnel including, but not limited to, the following items:  home instruction, substitute employees, extra duty positions and the hiring of new personnel.  Any discussion held by the Board, which need not remain confidential, will be made public as soon as practicable.  Minutes of the executive session will not be disclosed until the need for confidentiality no longer exists.  The Board will reconvene into public session at the conclusion of the closed session.

 

The motion was unanimously approved.

Lauren Feinberg to receive a stipend in the amount of $2,000 as the advisor for the student club REBEL.  This stipend will be paid out of the grant funds that the district has already received for this club (see attached memo).

 

Stipend for Food Shopping - Colleen Roberts:

 

Colleen Roberts, substitute for Sam Damminger who is on maternity leave, to receive the remaining 1/5 stipend for food shopping - Effective 2/26/07.

Child Rearing Leave for 2007/2008 - Natalie Johnson:

 

A request for a child-rearing leave during the 2007/2008 school year for Natalie Johnson, MS Teacher.

Professional Improvements:

 

The following professional improvements:

Rate Change for Child Study Team Summer-Work Days:

 

A rate change in the payment for Child Study Team summer-work days.  The prior approval was for payment to be at the negotiated curriculum rate.  Payment should be approved at the per diem rate of each employee due to the fact that the funds are being paid out of the IDEA grant. This has been the past practice for the Child Study Team.  The breakdown of days worked is as follows:

·       Bryan Hendricks - School Psychologist - 10 days total

·       Maggie Monk - Social Worker - 10 days total

·       Tammy McHale - Supervisor of Special Education - 20 days total
