Superintendent's Message - September 1, 2010

Clearview School Community,

We are excited to see our campus come alive!  Our teachers are returning to set up their rooms, the student schedules are ‘live’ on PowerSchool, the sounds of the marching band fill the air and our student-athletes are preparing for another season.

We are very fortunate to have all of our staff members returning in September!  I continue to say that because it’s imperative that we continue to offer the quality academic programs that our school community expects.  The only way to continue offering a broad array of programs with reasonable class sizes is to continue staffing at the current level.  We’ve all heard about the ‘staffing cuts stories’ in the newspaper.  Fortunately, this scenario does not apply to Clearview.  I’m very proud of the fact that our staffing levels are stable, our academic offerings continue to grow, our athletic programs remain intact and the majority of the student activities will continue to be offered without a pay-to-play fee.  Maintaining our staff levels is more important than ever as we are facing the largest enrollment in the district’s history.  This year, there will be more than 900 students in the Middle School and more than 1,600 students in the High School.

This year, as a result of retirements and other personnel decisions, there will be 16 new employees throughout the district.  In addition to our newest staff members, there will be 6 returning staff members who have changed responsibilities.  We are well-prepared and excited for the start of a new school year.

Welcome Back!

John Horchak III, Superintendent
